BACDL’s mission is to assist, support, and strengthen the Broward County criminal defense practitioner in the zealous defense of individuals and their Constitutional rights. We provide continuing legal education, networking, mentoring, and professional resources to our members in cooperation with our Statewide sister organization. It is further our mission to educate and inform the general public regarding the administration of criminal justice and the need for an independent, ethical, and professional criminal defense bar. Our Broward County criminal defense lawyers protect the rights of all those who pass through our halls of justice.

#BREAKING : Hubert Nathan Myers and Clifford Williams Jr are #EXONERATED in Jacksonville today after nearly 43 years wrongfully incarcerated.

In a 1:30 hearing, the Honorable Judge Angela Cox ordered their convictions vacated. Nathan and Clifford were charged with murder and attempted murder in 1976 based on faulty eyewitness ID.

Today, they walk free.

This exoneration was initiated by the State Attorney of the Fourth Judicial Circuit, Melissa Nelson and her Conviction Integrity Review Unit. IPF represented Nathan Myers, George E. “Buddy” Schulz of Holland & Knight represented Clifford Williams.

These men have waited nearly 43 years to see this day.
